Movie Madness Monday...

I considered doing a review on what has to be the worst movie ever made, but decided against wasting more of my life on "Hot Tub Time Machine."  Instead, I am going with "The Last Song," a great Nicholas Sparks movie.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks' writing style, but I am a huge fan of his storylines so I try to always check them out once they hit the big screen.  "The Notebook" I have to say is still my favorite, but "The Last Song" gives it a run for its money.  There's not much not to like: Miley Cyrus, a hot teenage boy that makes me feel dirty for thinking he's good looking, heartwarming love story, baby sea turtles and the beach.  I love all those things.  (Yes, I bought Miley's song from the movie about 2 minutes after the movie wrapped.)

Rebel teenager Ronnie (played by Miley) goes to spend the summer with her brother at her dad's house at the beach.  She meets hot boy.  Hot boy who used to be a player, but only because he recently experienced a life tragedy, falls in love with Ronnie the rebellious teenager who spends the majority of her time making her dad's life a nightmare.  Through her love for hot boy she returns to being a normal person and once again has a relationship with her father.  A little too predictably, something tragic happens and boy and girl are torn apart.  I'll leave it up to you to either watch the movie or guess what happens in the end, but either way, it's a great movie.  I smiled, I cried, I laughed.  Miley did a great job I have to say (well, I think she does great at everything so maybe I'm not the best judge in this case).

It's a really heartwarming story about love and how it can completely change your life and affect all the relationships in your life.  Whether a romantic love, friend love, brother/sister love or parent/child love, love can shape who you are and make you a better person if you let it.  Through her relationship with hot boy and her dad, Ronnie softens and rediscovers and learns who she really is.

It was a great movie.  Thoroughly enjoyed it.  No, it wasn't revolutionary and some will say it was cliche, but sometimes you want to see a sweet love story that doesn't require you to think too much.  In fact, it made me want to read the book, until I realized I'd then have to suffer through reading a Nicholas Sparks book, which I promised my brain and eyes I'd never do again.  Highly recommend this movie, especially if you're a girl.

And thanks Miley.  For giving me one more reason to think you are fabulous.
